This submission is made by the Sexual Rights Initiative (SRI) in response to OHCHR's call for input to update the technical guidance on the application of a human rights-based approach to the elimination of preventable maternal mortality and morbidity.

It advocates for strengthening the human rights-based approach to eliminating preventable maternal mortality and morbidity (PMMM). The submission calls for an intersectional approach, stronger health system accountability, and equitable health financing to address structural failings in reproductive health care. It also emphasizes the need to expand the focus beyond mortality to include maternal morbidity. Finally, it provides targeted recommendations to ensure practical implementation of rights-based reproductive health policies.
