Submission to the Special Rapporteur on the right to development: thematic priorities for the mandate
Prepared in response to the call for inputs issued by the Special Rapporteur on the right to development to inform his 2023 thematic reports and priorities for the mandate, this submission recommends adopting an intersectional approach to the right to development by engaging with gender, racial and economic justice, among others. It encourages the Special Rapporteur to prioritize civil society participation and collaboration with other Special Procedures mandates. The submission also suggests possible topics for thematic reports, including: gender perspectives on the right to development; degrowth and just transition; and the rights to development and self-determination in contexts of (neo-)colonialism, imperialism, occupation, and indebtedness (including reparations for colonialism, slavery, Apartheid and environmental degradation in that context).
